{"id":3345,"date":"2023-03-01T11:50:00","date_gmt":"2023-03-01T16:50:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.davideriknelson.com\/sbsb\/?p=3345"},"modified":"2023-02-14T21:17:36","modified_gmt":"2023-02-15T02:17:36","slug":"recommended-listening-mayfair-watchers-society","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.davideriknelson.com\/sbsb\/index.php\/2023\/03\/recommended-listening-mayfair-watchers-society\/","title":{"rendered":"Recommended Listening: Mayfair Watchers Society"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>I often bounce from a fiction Podcast because I&#8217;m a &#8220;monster-of-the-week&#8221; guy (in the <em>X-Files<\/em> sense of <a href=\"https:\/\/boards.straightdope.com\/t\/do-you-prefer-mythology-or-monster-of-the-week-episodes-not-just-for-x-files\/979165\/1\">&#8220;Monster-of-the-week&#8221; vs &#8220;Mythology&#8221;<\/a>), and far too many &#8220;serial drama&#8221;-style podcasts 1) fall in love with their Mythology arc and 2) the writers (in my humble) just cannot sustain those long, heavy arcs. Listening becomes a chore and strain; I have enough chores, and if I wanted homework I&#8217;d go to grad school.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Thus far, <em>Mayfair Watchers Society <\/em>is delivering the thing I desperately wanted: a monster-a-week, no cast of 1000s to keep track of over years-long lightly scripted arcs.
