The \u201csuave devil look\u201d for magicians (goatee, tuxedo, etc.) was invented by a Jewish magician named \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Alexander_Herrmann\">Herrmann<\/a>\u201d (which I think is German for \u201cMr. Man\u201d\u2014which just so feels like a name assigned by a census taker who was fed up with weird Yiddish <em>shtetl<\/em> names he couldn&#8217;t spell) who performed for Lincoln!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>New York Times<\/em>: \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2024\/06\/24\/arts\/magic-jews-germany-hatch.html?unlocked_article_code=1.2U0.Ir9E.TgSn3KWr_yyR&amp;smid=nytcore-ios-share&amp;referringSource=articleShare\">How a 1933 Book About Jews in Magic Was Rescued From Oblivion<\/a>\u201d (&#x1f381; gift link)<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In fact, Herrmann (shown in the picture at the top, courtesy of his Wikipedia entry) is <em>so<\/em> synonymous with the look that if you prompt an A.I. with \u201ccreate a poster for an 1800s stage magician.
