So, about a\u00a0year ago I wrote about Trump for the first time: “Listen: If We Don\u2019t Start Taking Trump Seriously, He Will be President #FACT #NotJoking<\/a>”<\/p>\n

I still\u00a0think much of what is in that post is true, but realize that I’d failed to comprehend the scope of our national fuck-up. \u00a0Back in August 2015, I was seeing this as something liberals were messing up, by not taking Trump seriously and at face value. \u00a0It never dawned on me that it was all of us\u2014<\/em>left, right, center, and nutbag\u2014who were botching this. \u00a0Yeah, even his\u00a0supporters\u2014<\/em>even the worst among them, the vicious racists, the violent thugs\u2014have it wrong,\u00a0’cause I think Trump is\u00a0probably right about himself: He isn’t racist. Yes, he’s almost certainly\u00a0a White Supremacist\u00a0(in that his default and unexamined worldview privileges a White perspective in the same way as the sighted privilege the visual spectrum),\u00a0but he really isn’t racist<\/em>, per se,\u00a0because a racist really does truly believe something\u2014albeit something gross and erroneous.<\/p>\n

I honestly don’t think Trump believes\u00a0anything<\/em>: He is an absolute empty vessel, the final fantastic, horrific, awful expression of American post-modernism: A perfect surface with no substance, a mirror-less mirror.<\/p>\n

Is he a great negotiator? \u00a0No.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

Is a great businessman? \u00a0No.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

Is a statesman of any stripe? No.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

Is he even a politician, in any conventional sense of the word? \u00a0No.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

But he is possibly the greatest salesman this country has ever known<\/a>, in part because he has perfected the sales process beyond the need for any product at all.<\/p>\n

That said, there is something I’ve begun to question about that year-old post<\/a>: How do prevent this mercurial, bellicose, void human-mask from entering the Oval Office. \u00a0Last August I counseled Compassion<\/strong> and Reason<\/strong>\u2014and while I stick with Compassion<\/strong> (’cause I always do), I think Reason<\/strong> is useless here, because his sales process is crafted to short circuit and judo-throw reason. \u00a0Reason<\/strong> is the obstacle that\u00a0Trump’s\u00a0method is custom designed to overcome (for real; go read the Sales Playbook! \u00a0Many sections are devoted to jujitsu-spinning hesitation and reasonable objection into signing on the\u00a0line which is dotted<\/a>).<\/p>\n

So while I counsel\u00a0Compassion <\/strong>for Trump supporters, I also counsel Contempt<\/strong>\u2014not for the voter, but for the Skinsuit with\u00a0Hair Plugs himself. \u00a0Make Trump the object of dismissal, scorn, and visceral disgust. \u00a0Take the shine off his product-less product\u2014make it not only not worth the money, but not worth the time or\u00a0attention.<\/p>\n

He is a Ding-Dong dropped on a fresh, warm dog turd. \u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n

He is a mouthful of maggots on a sunny day. \u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n

He is the smear\u00a0at the bottom of a commercial kitchen trash can. \u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n

Not a president, not a candidate, not even a man; let him be the strange, nihilistic object he has made of himself, a solipsistic point in a one-dimensional Universe, convinced he is a God<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Later, on November 9, he will be deserving of our compassion; he can be a man again, and rejoin humanity.<\/p>\n

But until then . . .<\/p>\n
