FAQ

Are you going to send me a bunch of junk email?!

Nope.

Are you going to sell my email address to spammers?

Nope.

Then why do I have to give you my email address?

Basically, I just wanna be able to send you updates to this specific ebook as I notice typos, find someone better to do layout, some details change, etc.  I might also occasionally tell you about new books I have coming out.  In all likelihood, you won’t get more than an email or two from this list each year.

Is this some cunning marketing thing?  Is Vanguard paying you?

Nope. This ebook started out as a long email to a pal (also a freelancer and artist) who asked for some advice on investing. Later I was talking to a guitarist, and he likewise was worried about how he’d ever retire, so I offered to send him a copy. Then my nephew asked for some pointers, and the pal I originally wrote this for asked it it was OK to share the email with a friend-of-a-friend—you get the picture. I wrote this quickly, then laid it out quickly; it’s a little ugly, there are still a few typos, and some details change (like the color of a button on the Vanguard website, for example).

But the fundamentals still apply: The guide walk you through how to set up a brokerage account, what investments to put your money into, and how much to put in at what intervals—and, most importantly, why you should do each of there things.

What if I don’t want to give you my name and email?

Fine by me; just go and download the book at this link: Retirement Savings for Artists, Independent Workers, and Other Weirdos (v1.0). Share it far and wide. All I really want is for more folks to take care of themselves and their loved ones, and give less money to “financial planners” (May Ha’Shem take vengeance on them all!)

Can I just buy a copy?

Nope. Download it or get it via email. If you want to give me money, you can drop me a tip via Ko-fi or patronize my Patreon or Venmo me @squidaveo
